reading a story to Ryder

For Brityn's birthday we did the Silver Bow Pizza thing again. Being that her birthday is in January, our house is too small, and there is not many other options around here, we will probably make this our yearly ritual... and since Ryder's birthday is also during the cold winter months it looks like he will be in the same boat.

Three year old facts-
  • Brityn is 100% potty trained, since the end of December. YAY! I've still been putting a pull up on her at night, mainly because I have a jumbo sized box and want to use them up. She gets up and goes potty by herself most of the time. She has a little potty in her room for emergencies, sometimes she uses that but mostly she uses the big potty. A few weeks ago she had the stomach flu and had to get up several times during the night for almost a week and never had an accident the whole time. Of course during that fiasco I had to get up with her to help clean herself up.
  • Apparently she is one of the 3% (I don't know if that is the exact number but it's something really low like that) of 3 year olds who doesn't need a nap. ***sigh*** Oh, she will still take a nap occasionally but if she does she won't go to sleep at night till 11:00 or later. Fun stuff when your still getting up at night with a 2 month old. We did the whole in and out of bed 10 times before going to sleep for the night for a couple weeks. We asked the doctor how to deal with this and she told us to get a bunch of dollar store prizes and if she stayed in bed the whole night she got to pick one out in the morning. I jumped on the idea. Hey, I'm already sleep deprived from Ryder, no way I'm passing up a way to get a little more sleep. I'm all about bribery at the moment. It works pretty well for the most part. She still has her nights (like last night, she took a 30 minute nap yesterday) when she gets up for something other than going potty, but it's way better than it was.
  • Terrible two's? HA! There is NO SUCH THING! It's the Terrible, awful, horrible, can i give my kid up for adoption till they are five, three's! Seriously folks! She is a sassy, bossy, opinionated, little monster. At first I thought it was just her adjusting to a new baby, uh, no! I think we have a whole year or more to look forward to this attitude.
  • She LOVES her baby Ryder. She has all kinds of nicknames for him. She loves on him constantly, to the point that we have to keep him out of her reach.
  • She will finally put her own clothes on, even though she has been able to do it for a long time, she refused and made me do it most of the time.
  • She will get out of bed and get herself a snack in the middle of the night. Most of the time it's cheese.
  • Sometimes she lets me sleep in the morning for a while before coming in to wake me up. Last week she got herself cookies and cheetos for breakfast. Not the best breakfast choice, but she let me sleep till almost 9:00! I couldn't be upset about that ;)
  • She is obsessed with Toy Story right now. The movies, the toys, everything. Buzz is her favorite... personally I like Jessie and Woody, but whatever.
  • She still loves her Gabba's too, especially Foofa and Tootie.
  • She also loves Fancy Nancy (thanks Heather, these are actually books Brent and I both enjoy reading).
  • 3 year check up-Weight 26.5 lbs Height 36"
  • She still has her binky. It was supposed to be gone after her birthday but Brent decided to let her have it until after our trip to Billings. He even went to Spencers and bought her a new teeth binky so she could go out in style. Monday was supposed to be her last day but Brent got sick and decided he didn't want to deal with it so he told her she could have it until this weekend. I'm not sure if I've mentioned that the "Binky Fairy" is coming to take the binky away and leaving a surprise in it's place... maybe she will come this weekend, although I'm not counting on it, lol. Hopefully by the time she starts high school she will be rid of the thing!

Last weekend we took Brityn back to Billings to go to Chuck E Cheese and the water slides. That is what she really wanted to do for her birthday and it was the first weekend that Brent was off and Brityn wasn't sick. Grandma Carol and Papa went with us. Brityn had a blast and Ryder did really well on the long car ride. I didn't take any pictures because I'm a slacker like that.

I agree, 3's are horrible!! 4 isn't so hot either. I like your idea of giving them up until they are 5:) We have to keep an eye on Gracie as well because of all the LOVES that Jackson likes to give her. Your last post was like looking into our past..too funny.

Yay!! Brityn's THREE!!! I can't believe our "babies" are getting so big!! I love all the pictures of her. Especially the one of her looking at Ryder in his bouncer seat! That one is so cute!! It sounds like she is an incredible little girl - very independent!! :) I wish Levi was more independent. Sometimes I feel like I'm his servant because he can't do some things on his own. :(
